GOALS

I plan to teach primary grades K-3. I would like to affect a positive change in the lives of children. I am very passionate about children receiving a quality education.

NewsFlash

I am a single parent of a fiesty four year old. I began my college education at the University of Kentucky in 1988. I then returned to Northwest Indiana and took a job. I returned to school in 1997 taking classes at South Suburban College. My major was Physical Therapy. I took a leave from school until I was sure about my life goals. My goals became clear after I gave birth to my daughter. In the fall of 2002 I resumed classes at South Suburban with my focus on Elementary Education. I am currently enrolled at Purdue University Calumet where I am a Junior. I will receive my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in Spring 2008. I plan to continue my education and earn my Masters degree.

Favorite Classes

My two favorite classes were EDCI 260 and EDPS 220. I learned a vast amount of information in both of these classes. In EDPS 220 I learned a great deal about learning styles and behavior issues and how they affect children. In EDCI 260 I gained a vast amount of knowledge about technology and its use in the classroom. I have a great deal of respect for both Professor Mary Didelot and Professor Helen Jancich. They were very knowledgeable and always helpful. Their dedication and enthusiasm are an inspiration and should be modeled by all educators.

Life changing experience: Becoming a mother was a turning point in my life. I became responsible for another persons life. My daughter is my greatest accomplishment, I am honored that God chose me to be her mother.

Things I like to do: I enjoy watching sports, my favorites are Football and Baseball. I also like to watch Ice Skating. My favorite teams are the Chicago Bears and White Sox. I enjoy watching decorating shows such as,Trading Spaces, Design on a Dime, Divine Design . I am a fan of several reality tv shows such as WifeSwap and Supernanny.

Where I spend most of my time: I divide my time between home, school and church. I am a devout christian who loves to attend church. I am a member of the Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. My pastor is James T. Meeks who is also the IL State Senator of the 15th district. I attend Sunday school and church every Sunday morning. I also attend prayer and bible study on Wednesday evening. I sing in the womens choir, (WOW) Women of Worship.
